How BBTRS Breathwork Transforms Lives

Work, school, family, friends, relationships, relaxation, hobbies, exercise- it so often feels like there isn’t enough time in the day to do it all. Amidst the chaos of life, it’s so easy to lose touch with ourselves- to forget how to sit down, take a break, and just breathe. BBTRS, or Biodynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release Systems, offers a profound opportunity to transform and heal ourselves through our most simple biological act.

In 2018, I was at a point in my life that many people would consider rock bottom. Then, I was blessed with the opportunity to study BBTRS with Giten Tonkov and it turned out to be a year of complete rebirth. Since then, BBTRS has become a pivotal science in my life. I teach workshops, lead one-on-one sessions with clients, and have also begun integrating breathwork into The Shadow Calling darkness retreats.

What is Biodynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release Systems, or BBTRS?

Developed by Giten Tonkov, BBTRS is a growth process that combines conscious breathing with somatic experiencing to facilitate profound shifts on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels. It is an exercise that goes beyond the conventional understanding of breath to unlock deep healing, growth, and transformation.

The goal of BBTRS is to create space and relaxation in the body. Through a guided process of conscious breathing, participants are invited to explore and release stored traumas, access subconscious patterns and beliefs, and cultivate presence and awareness. It was created with both Eastern and Western wisdom techniques, ancient practices, and cutting-edge science. In my opinion, it is the most revolutionary holistic healing modality we have today.

Releasing Stored Trauma

Many of us carry trauma with us throughout our lives. These emotional wounds can stem from a variety of experiences, including childhood events, past relationship trauma, and societal pressures. What happens when trauma remains unresolved and unreleased? It manifests in a various number of ways in our daily lives, such as physical tension, emotional unavailability or blockage, and depression. Ultimately, it hinders our ability to live our lives authentically and to the fullest.

Normally when we react to trauma, our body enters fight or flight mode. It is not instinctual for us as humans to immediately resolve the effects of traumatic experiences. But when you participate in BBTRS Breathwork, your body starts to unwind, entering an altered state. Suppressed emotions and memories are able to rise to the surface and flow freely, allowing the chance to acknowledge and heal them.

Accessing Subconscious Patterns and Beliefs

Our breath serves as a powerful bridge between the conscious and subconscious realms of our being. In the practice of BBTRS breathwork, you are skillfully guided into altered states of consciousness through the rhythmic pattern of breathing. Within these altered states, deep-seated patterns and beliefs that reside within our subconscious minds are brought to light.

When we take this journey into the depths of our psyches, we receive the opportunity to discover profound insights and revelations that illuminate the root causes of many of our major struggles and challenges. By shining a light on these hidden patterns, BBTRS breathwork offers a unique opportunity to gain clarity and understanding.

Cultivating Presence and Awareness

The illumination of unresolved trauma, hidden emotions, and subconscious beliefs provided by BBTRS has the power to transcend beyond any singular session. By integrating regular breathwork practice into our schedules, we’re able to cultivate more presence and awareness in our everyday lives as we move forward. Intentional connection with breath and bodily sensation builds an anchor within ourselves that, with continued practice, becomes easier to tap into when we need to calm ourselves.

As our breath deepens in practice, the awareness between future and past dissolves, allowing us to deeply explore the present moment and all that it has to offer. Awareness of the present moment is a tool that can be used to ensure a healthy emotional palate and to allow us to cultivate a greater sense of self-understanding along our transformational journeys. The knowledge gained from BBTRS of how to be more present simultaneously heals us from our past wounds while guiding us away from the act of continuing unhealthy patterns in the future.

Since my time studying under Giten Tonkov, I have learned that BBTRS is not just a technique. It is a journey of self-discovery. The possibilities of self-betterment from BBTRS are endless. Whether you're seeking relief from trauma, clarity in direction, or simply a deeper connection to yourself, BBTRS breathwork offers a pathway to transformation, one breath at a time.
